Creative Process
What I love most about the making process is the way an idea or inspiration slowly forms, until it surfaces, demanding to be made. I keep or document every sketch, test and model, often returning to themes or test pieces that still resonate with me. I have a notebook handy and scribble down ideas and inspiration on a train, after a walk, or after visits to the theatre or galleries. Making is always absorbing, sometimes meditative and often thrilling. The gallery below provides a little glimpse of some of the ways I spend my time in the studio.
Sustainability
I aim to minimise detrimental environmental impact throughout the lifecycle of my work. This means I think about the supply chain, the resources I use in my making, and the end use of the piece. I know that my practice is by no means environmentally perfect but I am committed to continuing to learn so that I am mindful of the choices I make. I seek to tread lightly on the earth. To find out more about the steps I take to do this please see my sustainability statement, accessible as a downloadable pdf.
